Study design
The Interventionsprojekt zerebrovaskuläre Erkrankungen und Demenz im Landkreis Ebersberg (INVADE) Study is a general population study based in the district of Ebersberg, Germany. Members of a health insurance company (AOK) born in 1964 were eligible for inclusion. The principal aim of the study was to investigate the effect of risk factors on the incidence of stroke and dementia. The local institutional review board of the Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany, approved this study. All patients provided written informed consent before entering the study.
