Study design
The Prospective Investigation of the Vasculature in Uppsala Seniors (PIVUS) is a general population study based in Uppsala, Sweden. All subjects aged 70 years living in the community of Uppsala were eligible for inclusion. Subjects were randomly selected from the community register. The principal aim of PIVUS was to evaluate different measurements of endothelial function and arterial compliance. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Uppsala and the participants gave informed consent.
