Study design

The BK Registry Study (BK REGISTRY) is focusing on individuals with coronary heart disease and is based in Daejeon, Korea . Recruitment took place between 2000 and 2007 at the catheterization laboratory at Konyang University Hospital. Individuals undergoing a coronary angiography and carotid artery scanning were enrolled. The principal aim of the study was to investigate the impact of carotid intima-media thickness and carotid plaque on the long-term clinical prognosis of patients with coronary artery disease. Informed consent was obtained from each patient and the study was approved by the hospital ethics committee.
