Study design
The Study Nakamura et al. II is a two-arm clinical trial based in Japan. The principal aim of the trial was to investigate the effect of AST-120 (6g/day) versus no medication on carotid intima-media thickness and arterial stiffness in non-diabetic patients with chronic renal failure. The study was pre-approved by a human research ethics committees. Informed consent was obtained from each participant.
