Study design

The Study Kato et al. is focusing on individuals on haemodialysis and is based in Hamamatsu, Japan. Individuals enrolled in this study were treated by regular haemodialysis in the dialysis centre in Maruyama Hospital. Exclusion criteria were >80 years of age and advanced cancer. The principal aim of the study was to investigate the association of arteriosclerotic changes with fat and muscle masses in individuals on haemodialysis. The study was approved by the ethics committee of the institution. All patients gave their consent to participate in the study.
